face Our mission:

Credit cards can be a great financial tool if used wisely. It is important to choose a credit that is suitable to your personal circumstance, but this can be a bit tricky since the information you need to decide which credit card to get is often not readily available.

We created Credit Cards Compare NZ to simplify this process and help Kiwis compare New Zealand credit cards to find the most suitable credit card to match their personal circumstance… read more about us »

assignment_returned Low Interest Credit Cards:

A low rate credit card might be suitable for you if you don’t intend to pay off your credit card debt on time, but keep in mind, low interest credit cards do not usually come with any reward points or extra benefits and tend to incur an annual fee (with a few exceptions).

If you are interested in a low rate credit card, please visit our low interest credit cards page to review and compare New Zealand low rate credit cards.

input Credit Card Balance Transfer:

If you have a sizeable credit card debt already, then a balance transfer credit card might be suitable for you. Some balance transfer credit cards offer 0% on balance transfer for up to 12 months, while others might offer a slightly higher rate for a much longer period.

Credit card balance transfer offers can give you the reprieve you need to get your finances back in order.

If you are interested in a balance transfer credit card, please visit our balance transfer credit cards page to review and compare New Zealand credit card balance transfer offers.

card_giftcard Rewards Credit Card:

The best way to take advantage of credit cards is with a membership rewards credit card. Reward credit cards offer rewards or benefits to users for using their card. These benefits can range from rewards points, free travel insurance, free airport lounge access, free purchase protection, cash backs, airpoints, flybuy points and more.

If you plan to use your credit card often, and have no problem paying off your credit card balance, then a rewards credit card might be suitable for you.

If you are interested in a reward credit card, please visit our rewards credit cards page to review and compare New Zealand reward point credit cards.

accessibility Interest Free Credit Cards:

Interest free credit cards or Zero interest credit cards are credit cards with 0% interest rate for an initial period i.e. you do not pay interest on newly incurred credit card debt for a set period – usually between 6 to 12 months. What’s more, this zero interest rate usually (but not always) also applies to any balance transferred to the new interest free credit card.

It is important to note that zero interest credit cards are different from balance transfer credit cards. Balance transfer offers only apply to the balance transferred to the new credit card, whereas with a zero interest credit card, you do not pay interest on newly incurred debt which often also includes any balance transferred to the card.

An interest free credit card might be suitable for you if you intend to take on new credit card debt which you do not expect to pay off in the next few months, but you expect to pay back before the interest free period lapses.

If you are interested in an Interest free credit card, please visit our interest free credit cards page to review and compare New Zealand zero interest credit cards.

credit_card No-annual Fee Credit Cards:

If you rarely use your credit card and only use it as a form of back up payment, then you might prefer a credit card with no annual fee to avoid paying a fee for a card that you barely use.

The downside is that zero fee credit cards tend to have higher interest rates and do not often come with any extra benefits.

If you are interested in a zero fee credit card, please visit our no-annual fee credit cards page to review and compare New Zealand zero fee credit cards.

card_membership Prestige Credit Cards:

Prestigious credit cards are credit cards reserved for the elite or high flyers of society and tend to come with great benefits and privileges. These credit cards are often referred to as either Gold credit cards or Platinum credit cards, but they can also be referred to by other names.

These credit cards often have higher annual fees, but come with great reward schemes and benefits such as free travel lounge access, free travel insurance, purchase protection and more.

If you are interested in a Prestigious credit card, please visit our Prestigious credit cards page to review and compare New Zealand elite credit cards.

school Student Credit Cards:

Unlike in the UK, US and Australia, most New Zealand banks do not offer credit cards designed specifically for tertiary students, but rather, they offer interest free overdrafts for students with their tertiary debit card which can be used online just like a normal credit card.

A tertiary debit card might be a better option for students than a credit card as it tends to incur very little to no interest. The main downside is that these overdrafts are usually limited to about $1,000 to $2,000.

If you are interested in a Student credit card, please visit our Student credit cards page to review and compare New Zealand Tertiary overdraft packages.

flight Travel Insurance Credit Cards:

Travel insurance credit cards are credit cards with the added benefit of free travel insurance cover which often also covers your partner and dependant children travelling with you.

If you are interested in a Travel insurance credit card, please visit our travel insurance credit cards page to review and compare New Zealand travel insurance credit cards.
